With the addition of the Smitybuilt awning on the Jeep, I now have guy anchor lines to contend with to secure the awning in breezy conditions.
The awning comes from Smitybuilt with black cords for the guy anchor lines, and with the black theme on the Jeep, I wasn’t in a hurry to change these out – but, I’m up at night – when it’s dark – working on night sky and low light photography.
These guy anchor lines had to go – the black lines were not visible, and represent a tripping hazard while moving around setting up for photos.
A quick search on Amazon and I was able to find “glow in the dark” paracord.
I was a bit hesitant, but made the purchase and just this past weekend, replaced my awning guy anchor lines with this paracord. I’m surprised, and happy with the results.
This ‘red light’ photo you can easily see the paracord glowing. It isn’t a strong glow, but more than enough to spot the lines in the darkness.
During the daylight hours, you can also easily see the lines.
Pickup some glow in the dark paracord here (same kind as I bought from Amazon), and get started replacing your guy anchor lines on your tent, awning, zipper pulls or where else it can be helpful to have this extra night-time visibility.
Have some extra uses for glow in the dark paracord?

I made a glow in the dark paracord collar for my dog who likes to wander when we’re camping
Awesome idea, Lynda!
I’ll have to suggest that to some of the others while out camping — lots of people let their dogs wander and it’d be nice to see them from a bit of a distance so you know what’s approaching!
