Gobi Upper Isolators

Don’t get me wrong here – the Gobi Roof Rack is an amazing piece of kit. It is well designed, solid and looks great. But under heavy loads, it does vibrate a bit, and in my case, occasionally bumps the hard top.

In the photo below, you can see some of the scuff marks from the support bar making occasional contact with the hard top.

I’ve adjusted and readjusted, bumped the ladder out with some spacers, but the problem persists.

Gobi has an answer for that, and they are “upper isolators”. These are simple tube clamps that fit on the support bars near the top of the hard top. Contact pads are then positioned onto the hard top, and you tighten the isolators against them.

A simple enough fix to keep those heavy lots from creating any movement of the rack into the hard top. I’ll be certain to post a complete update once I’ve put the Jeep through its paces on some trails this season.

Is there a certain number of isolators to stop the vibrations. This is good information because I want a gobi. How much does the rtt weight? XKID

The RTT is roughly 120lbs. The Gobi isolators come as a pair and that’s all it’s really made for – mounting them lower wouldn’t do much as the Gobi rack already has a similar ‘built-in’ piece that tightens against the main tub of the Jeep.
