Dowson VGA Dash Cam Review

At $15-25, you might think the Dowson VGA dash cam is a great deal for adding peace of mind video recording to your vehicle, but think again.

This little camera only records in VGA mode – resulting in a 640×480 video at best.

Add in a windshield that won’t always be perfectly clean, changing light conditions, and you’ve got yourself a very basic camera system. Although it does what it is supposed to do, don’t expect to be able to read someone’s license plate information off the footage you collect.

The Dowson VGA dash cam is branded under multiple names, and even sells in retail stores for up to ten times as much as you’ll find on Amazon. Click here to jump to the Amazon product page for more information.

Low resolution and low quality footage. License plates are unreadable.
